1. Our objective is to build a sustainable supply chain by acting in accordance with the Japan Pulp & Paper Group’s basic Sustainability Policy and related policies such as our Environmental Policy and Human Rights Policy.
2. The Japan Pulp & Paper Group conducts procurement with consideration for the environment and society in order to stably provide safe, secure, and environmentally responsible products and services.
3. We will build good partnerships with suppliers and partner companies and conduct fair and appropriate transactions.
In order to build a sustainable supply chain, the Japan Pulp & Paper Group requests its suppliers and partner companies to understand and implement the following items. We also ask for their cooperation in verifying compliance with each item.
For important issues throughout the supply chain related to building a sustainable supply chain, we will maintain dialogue with stakeholders, work to understand society’s expectations, and respond to changes in the environment and society. We will continue to analyze and consider the impact on the group, and conduct regular reviews.
Comply with the relevant laws and regulations of each country and region where we operate.
(1) Strive to contribute to the conservation of biodiversity and the natural environment, and work to protect and effectively use forest resources.
(2) Strive to reduce environmental impact by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, reducing and properly disposing of waste, promoting recycling, and other such activities.
(3) Strive for effective use of resources such as energy and water.
(4) Strive to prevent environmental pollution.
(1) Respect human rights in accordance with international human rights norms and avoid complicity in human rights violations.
(2) Do not engage in discrimination based on gender, authority or status, or any form of harassment that undermines the dignity of individuals. Furthermore, do not tolerate discrimination or harassment in the workplace.
(3) Do not accept or take part in child labor or forced labor.
(4) Respect employees’ freedom of association, their right to join or not join a union, and their right to collective bargaining.
Conduct fair and appropriate transactions and strive to promote free competition and prevent corruption.
Take action to prevent occupational accidents and provide a workplace that takes health into account.
Ensure the quality and safety of products and services.
(1) Review the above items in a timely and appropriate manner and disclose them fairly.
(2) Through dialogue with stakeholders, strive to understand society’s expectations and requests and reflect them in corporate activities.
The Executive Sustainability Committee, chaired by the representative director, president, oversees decisions on policies and initiatives related to the Japan Pulp & Paper Group’s sustainable procurement. The Corporate Sustainability Division reports to this committee, and has established a framework to lead relevant divisions in the group to promote sustainable procurement for the entire group.
